Clergy Taxation - Details:

Clergy are treated differently under the tax code. They have advantages and disadvantages that no one else has. Often, confusion exists concerning clergy compensation, deductions and expenses. In this session, we will determine who qualifies as clergy, what is considered income, love offerings, trips, housing allowances and more. Is the Minister an employee, self-employed or both? We will prepare the correct W-2 form, learn to use the Deason Rule, and learn the advantages and disadvantages of the accountable and non-accountable reimbursement plans for expenses. Social Security tax is discussed and computed with consideration given to whether they should opt in or opt out of social security.
